A few days ago I wrote a new song, Borrowed, as an addendum to the Gravity Wing album. I got to compose it on this beautiful borrowed guitar. This gave me the idea to start a little tradition. Because Gravity Wing and its underlying narrative both deal with learning to work with new settings, places, and things, I thought that the concept of borrowed objects and spaces would be particularly appropriate as the subject and title of this new song.
At every show, I’d like to play Borrowed on a different guitar borrowed from a different friend. The song’s first appearance is at my phil show, to be performed using the guitar on which I wrote it.
